House in
Doli - Mani, Greece (2003)
This was a newly
renovated property and the commission was therefore only for the
landscaping of the garden area and the design of a guest annexe
bedroom with an en-suite shower room.
The garden is
orientated to the south with stunning views and therefore the design
integrated both a covered veranda and a freestanding pavilion with
a bamboo roof to provide shade and prolonged access to the views
for outdoor summer life.
The materials
and construction are traditional to the area with 50cm thick stone
walls, timber windows and ceramic roof tiles. Materials were often
purchased from derelict buildings and integrated into the house
to create the desired aesthetic.
