House in Aghia Sophia - Mani, Greece (2003)

This site is located within the village of Aghia Sophia with stunning views both to the sea and up to the Taygetos mountains which overlook the village from the east.

The site contains a Byzantine ruin which has been integrated into the design of the house, thus helping to tie the house to its local and to create an entirely unique house which respects and maintains a link to its past forms and materials.

The three bedroom (145m2) house retains its original Byzantine footprint with a small addition to the south side for an extra bedroom and terrace above. Due for completion in spring 2006.
