Toumba Competition (May 2003)
Awarded 2nd Prize
This Pan- Hellenic Architectural Competition's objective was the redesign of a rundown area in Thessaloniki, that combined a number of diverse activities including one of the most important football stadiums in Greece, an open air market, a school, a church and extensive parking.
The complicity and diversity of the combined activities led to a powerful design gesture that involved the "carpeting" of all intermediate spaces in order to create a coherent and discreet background to the network of activities.
Design team: Eleni Tsigarida, Michalis Karavas, Alexandros Papadias, Elena Kouri. Assisting team: Anna Kaneli, Matina Tsiarea, Vaso Lambropoulou.
